What makes a good neighbor?
When I was first looking for a place to put my tiny, I was looking to live near people I knew-my friends who held the same values as I did. We would be able to hang out, enjoy each other’s company, and more.
Yet each time things didn’t work out, until they didn’t. I ended up in an area of peace with great neighbors. They take care of me like I’m their child.
Here are a few of the qualities they possess:
- Kindness: When I asked where they take their trash, the gentleman offered (and still does) take my trash to the dump with his. He even cleaned an old trash can for me to have and use. One day before this; I think, Mrs. T. took me to work when my car broke down. It was a lifesaver.
- Generosity: The wife asked me if I had someone to cut my grass. I said I didn’t and she promptly said Mr T. would gladly do it for free.
- Concern: When storms came she would check in to make sure I’m safe.
- Respect: They aren’t nosey.
Fast forward and I’m getting new neighbors. I prayed so hard against it because I love my peace and quiet. Then you NEVER know who’s going to move in.
The time came and I met them. They are the sweetest couple. They check in during storms and even came over to make sure the house was ok after making sure I was. I get to play with their dogs like they’re mine and the get genuinely excited when I come back into town from traveling.
Of course, this isn’t an exhaustive list, but some of the things I can think of this early in the morning about the blessings of neighbors I have. I’m grateful for them.
