From Paper to Digital

How has technology changed your job?

When I started out in physical therapy, most of my jobs still had a combo of paper and digital documentation. Some were fully paper.

As time went on things went fully digital. Honestly, I don’t like it because there are times you have to document with the patient there. It can create a disconnect. I was much better at writing on paper and having a seamless conversation with a patient.

Then you’ve got the whole glitch thing. When that happens, forget it lol.

But technology has made some things more seamless and that’s a good thing when records are needed quickly.

Just like anything else, it’s got its pros and cons.

I will say for my coaching business, having technology for virtual sessions, email, and other forms of communication that allow you to be 1000s miles apart is a beautiful thing. It has allowed my business to go international and to reach others outside of the contiguous United States.

Either way, I am grateful for what technology has done. But for me, it will always be about the people I serve more than the technology.
