Pretty Ladies Don’t Frown

Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you.

I was walking down the street in deep thought. I was at war with myself at the time. Fighting all kinds of feelings of negativity due to past mistakes, hating my life, struggling to like who I was. I was in the depths of despair and depression.

As I was walking, I realized it myself that my face was indicative of where I was mentally and emotionally. It was showing up physically. In this awareness, I still wasn’t able to change the look on my face.

I crossed the street and turned right. Then a gentleman said, “Excuse me ma’am.” I said, “Yes?” Then he said, “Pretty ladies like you don’t frown, you should be smiling.” I smiled and walked away.

He was so kind, and honestly it wasn’t what I was expecting to hear. It positively impacted me helping me to see that others were aware of my presence and wanted me to be happy.

Now, I don’t walk around with a permanent smile, since I do have other feelings, yet I have the most genuine smile now, and what I feel is “normal” with in the range of emotions for a stable individual. (Thank you medication!)

So yes, pretty ladies don’t frown, especially from being at war within themselves. I’m grateful for that moment in time.

🩷 I am happy to be known by my smile. 🩷
