There’s something about handling life’s disruptions with grace and a smile…
Hey y’all! Let me tell you about my day, because it was something else—but in the best way possible! I started the morning off right with some movement, journaling, a bit of aromatherapy, and a peaceful Bible reading session. My goal was to set the tone for the day, and it totally worked.
The Coffee Shop Mishap
After that, I headed out to meet my sister-friend and former business partner for a little coffee date. As I pulled up to the Starbucks, I realized… it was in a grocery store! Eww, right? Not the ideal vibe for a catch-up with your girl. So, I did what anyone would do and found a local coffee spot instead.
Just as I was settling into my plans, she called to let me know she couldn’t make it. Turns out, someone working on her house pushed everything back, and she wasn’t able to leave. Now, the old me would’ve been so frustrated. But today? I took it in stride. I treated myself to lunch and worked solo at the coffee shop—no harm, no foul.

Rolling with the Punches
Later, I headed to the library to meet another friend so I could return some clothes she had let me borrow. While waiting for her, I got into my book Own Your Everyday and soaked up the calm library atmosphere. When she arrived, we sat outside and let her son play while we chatted, enjoying the weather.

The Tire Incident
Here’s where things took a turn—literally. On my way home, I decided to stop for a snack, which I almost didn’t do (but y’all know how snacks call your name!). As I got out of the car, I heard that dreaded sound… the air was seeping out of my tire like a balloon letting out its last breath. And when I looked, I couldn’t even tell what was stuck in the tire! It was huge, whatever it was. (I hate I didn’t take a picture of it to add here. I thought about it but…oh well 🤷🏽♀️)
Now, back in the day, I would’ve been hot about this. But today? I was cool as a cucumber. I thought to myself, “You know what? It’s been a great day. Things happen.” I waited patiently while they checked it out and even managed to get some prepare for the midweek meeting I had the next day. And, of course, I used my trusty Loops to block out the older ladies chatting away nearby, lol.
Finding Peace in the Moment
The growth is real, y’all. Instead of freaking out over every little thing, I’ve learned how to be present and regulate my emotions in situations where I once would’ve been totally undone. I even found peace in the breeze while pumping gas.
I hope sharing my day encourages you to see how emotional regulation is possible, even in chaotic moments. Life’s going to happen, but we can still be calm, present, and enjoy the little things.
Thanks for letting me share! I hope you’ve found some moments today where you could just be and celebrate your own growth.
Love you all!
