Mindful Productivity: Taking Purposeful Action to Balance Your Brain, Habits, and Focus
Success. Noun. The accomplishment of an aim or purpose.
We all want success, right? But not just the end result—it’s that feeling of accomplishment. That “Yes, I did it!” moment. The problem is, we don’t always have a way to make the habit stick long enough to actually see that success. It feels like you’re always missing the target—even if it’s just by a little.
Life is hard when it’s all about doing things you have to do, without a clear plan. You’ve probably tried everything: free tips, books, asking friends, but nothing sticks. Sound familiar? Here’s the truth: you don’t have to do this alone—and definitely not with someone who hasn’t been through it themselves.
Success, especially when you’re managing ADHD or brain challenges, is complicated. You’re working harder than most just to get stuff done. The world doesn’t make it easy, and neither does most advice you find online or from the people who care about you (they mean well, but… you get it). Plus, the world has this myth that the big wins are the only ones that matter. But here’s the truth: every small step is an achievement.
And let’s be real—success feels different for everyone. It’s different for your neighbor, your sister, and definitely different depending on where you are in life. Whether it’s the heat of summer or the chill of winter, productivity looks different in every season, and that’s okay.
This is why you need a framework—a way to stay intentional, focused, and purposeful with your brain, habits, and productivity.
It took me a while to realize that I had one. I used to think I was just winging it. Then, I was talking to my coach, Nikita Williams, and later to my sister and coach, Ja’Nina Hamilton, and I had this lightbulb moment. I DO have a framework. I’ve been using it for years, but I didn’t even realize it was something I could teach others.
The funny thing is, I developed this framework two years ago, and for some reason, I just… abandoned it. Then, one day, while sitting on the toilet (yes, it’s the best thinking spot), I realized, “Wait a minute, I’ve got something here!” I rushed to my phone, checked an old coaching slide, and bam—there it was.
So let me introduce you to the F.O.C.U.S. Framework:

- F is for Foremost: ADHD makes it super hard to know what to prioritize. Everything feels like it needs to be done right now. Slowing down (yes, another piece of my framework) lets you figure out what really needs your attention.
- O is for Optimize: Not all priorities are created equal. Some things need your attention first, and others can wait or be delegated. The key is figuring out what actually needs to happen now and being okay with letting some things go.
- C is for Commitment: Commitment is the secret sauce. When you decide to stick with a habit or schedule, you’re more likely to make progress. And when you mess up? You get back up and keep going. Persistence is everything.
- U is for Utilize: Time management isn’t just about managing tasks; it’s about managing your mind. Tools like journaling, brain dumps, aromatherapy, mindset work—these all help keep you on track and focused.
- S is for Strategy: You don’t have to make things harder than they need to be. Using methods like habit stacking, being flexible, Pomodoro, and setting up your space to make habits easier will help you be more mindful about how you get things done.
Now, here’s a question: What’s it costing you not to implement a framework that increases your productivity?
Let’s break it down in three areas: Mental health, financial stability, and overall productivity.
- Mental health: Constantly fighting with time management can lead to anxiety, low self-esteem, and a whole lot of overwhelm. It takes a toll on your mental well-being when you’re always scrambling to meet deadlines.
- Financial stability: Poor time management leads to missed bills, late fees, and financial stress. Productivity issues at work can also mean missed opportunities for promotions, raises, or job stability.
- Productivity: Without a plan, procrastination takes over. You’ll struggle to get anything done, whether it’s at work, school, or in your personal projects.
The F.O.C.U.S. Framework comes in. It’s the blueprint to manage mental health, productivity, and financial stability—so you can start getting things done and feeling accomplished.
How will you apply this to your life?
In the next post, I’ll show you how this framework can work wonders for your mental health.
But for now, I want you to think about this: Where will you be in 3 months, 6 months, or a year if you don’t address these areas?
